James Kemp

James is a technology and community leader with 32 years’ experience in IT and 15 years at the heart of one of the world’s largest volunteer-led movements.

His IT career covers roles from software developer and technical support through to team management, across sectors including warehouse and distribution logistics, healthcare, government security services and other government departments.

For the past 15 years James has worked with parkrun. He began as a volunteer, starting and supporting events including in the USA, and went on to join the staff as Global Head of Event Delivery. In that role he launched parkrun in several countries across Europe and supported the growth and development of events across all of parkrun’s global territories.

James also put his technical expertise to work for parkrun, project managing its in-house results processing web applications and mobile apps. These systems handle half a million results every week from more than 3,000 events across 23 countries, publishing them within hours of each event finishing.

Today, James brings this rare combination of IT expertise and hands-on volunteer and community leadership to help organisations, whether well established or just starting out, reach their full potential.
